how do you spend your sunday afternoons?
chasing bugs?
fishing?
relaxing in the water?
taking it all in?

party time
daddy took august to our dear friends' daughters' birthday party.
bailee is turning 3 and shelby is 1.
mama had a prior obligation, so it was just the boys for awhile.
then i showed up with camera in tow as the party was winding down.
i completely missed getting a picture of shelby.
she was resting from hard core partying.
here are a few images i did catch:
august is going for the gangsta look!
i wanna wear the hat, but not really, so i think i'll scream instead!
concentrating hard

mama's getting crafty
don't these fabrics make you want to get crafty?
well, that's what i did.
i totally stole the idea from another blog.
i am really not that creative, just pretty good at copying.
i used witch stitching (i think that's the name) to iron the fabric on.
then dusted off the sewing machine,
so i could stitch the edges.
yes, i had to pull out the directions.
its been at least 3 years since i have sewed anything.
the bobbin broke and i almost resorted to hand stitching.
i was fully prepared to be up all night to finish.
yes, i was waiting until the last minute to make birthday gifts.
no fretting though.
i know my sewing ability and bought back up gifts.
my helper was drooling over the new and fancy toy.
and the final product:

memorial day and all its excitement
festivities were quite traditional.
time with friends at their beautiful lake house.
grilling out and great summer side dishes.
and little ones all over the place.
best buddies playing
youngest of the 3 older kids
huntley - looking just like daddy
the youngest baby of all
sitting in the shade
then came the excitement.
august had an allergic reaction to something (possibly suntan lotion).
his eyes were almost swollen shut in the matter of minutes.
after frantically calling doctors (yes more than one was called!),
getting some benadryl from the drug store,
and taking a dose,
the hives started all over his body.
this is what he looked like after the medicine started working.
just like will smith in hitch.
thank you to all of our wonderful friends for looking up numbers,
calling doctors,
running travis to the store,
wiping suntan lotion off our bodies (to prevent more from getting in the eyes),
and just being concerned and supportive.
you guys are the best!
on the way home we saw the biggest turtle ever.
travis called it an alligator turtle.
it looked mean enough to bear that name.

riley
our friends (and family) david and ashleigh brought into this world, riley margaret.
she was born on may 8th, just one hour and 10 minutes shy of dad's birthday.
we got to meet her one week later.

august wasn't quite so interested in riley, but loved her backyard.
and playing ball with her daddy.
lookout mountain is right out their front door.
thanks for letting us visit.
we can't wait to see her again.
august will have to share his pacifier next time!
