atlanta

some sights as we sloooowly made our why through atlanta.

i wish we had some chikin to love around here!!

riley

our friends (and family) david and ashleigh brought into this world, riley margaret.
she was born on may 8th, just one hour and 10 minutes shy of dad's birthday.
we got to meet her one week later.

the proud parents

ashleigh's family
grandmama's and their grandbabies

cute little wrinkly feet
tiny little hands

august wasn't quite so interested in riley, but loved her backyard.

and playing ball with her daddy.

lookout mountain is right out their front door.

thanks for letting us visit.

we can't wait to see her again.

august will have to share his pacifier next time!

family tradition

for as long as i can remember we have taken family photos in front of the cabin.
probably because this tradition started before i was born.
i am sure there have been a few trips when we have forgotten.
but i love finding pictures from the times we didn't forget in mom and dad's picture bowl.
i want august to be able to see the same kinds of pictures of him.
even though he doesn't look so happy to be leaving,

and pa looks like a used car salesman in a commercial,

and the sun is making all the white really bright!

august

august was still enough for a few pictures here and there.
but not many.
he was busy going up and down the outside steps.
running (and falling) on the rock driveway.
and just running around enjoying the cool mountain air.

views from the river road

most mornings we walked down the river road.
here are some of the sites to be seen.

doesn't this porch scream, "come, sit, and enjoy some iced tea?"

emert's cove is a very old cemetery.

very cool headstone, with very true words.
if you double click on it, it may be easier to read.

if i could run this route every morning, it sure wouldn't be so hard hitting the pavement!!

river time

my grandmother's cabin is on the little pigeon river.
it has the best back porch to relax on.
it is the best place to sleep in or nap (sounds like rain on a tin roof!).
it (the river) is the best place to cool off, even when its not that hot.

dad and travis have make a point to "go green" and bathe in the river a few times each trip.
mom and i washed our toes.
august did too, but wasn't that crazy about it.
he did enjoy throwing rocks in the river.
travis went in first.
no good pictures of that.
i was in bad light.
laughing at travis.

thinking about it

taking the plunge

"wow, it is so cold i can't talk!"

funny little things

honestly, do people really need to be told this?
what happened to good 'ole common sense?
if you are "smart" enough to feed the bears,
then shouldn't you face the natural consequences?

the title of these books are funny, but gross!

(see the poop on the bottom? yuck!)

enough said!

this is one of the places we ate at.
home cooking, but healty might be a stretch.
they had some great food and deserts though.
we never once at a chain resteraunt on our entire trip!
