first disney trip

after the farm, we ran some errands in orlando.
then meet up with the rest of the stivender crew for mickey's merry christmas.

ready to get to the ferry.
august was so excited to see the magic kingdom and mickey for the first time!

ready to 'stroll.'

soooo excited to be here and ready for some food!

on it's a small world.

tatum couldn't take her eyes off all the dolls.

dance party.

so tired, but still moving those legs.

a very tired girl.
she hardly ever puts her head on a shoulder or chest,
but it oh so sweet when she does.

"i see goofy!"

one last look at the magic kingdom all lit up for christmas.

we hit up so many fun things:
pirates of the caribbean, the tea cups,
race cars, it's a small world,
peter pan, a buzz light year ride and show,
and so much more.

august's favorite part....
"EVERYTHING!"

green meadows farm

last friday, august's school took a field trip to the farm.

after visiting turkeys, the kids got to ride ponies.

then we went on a train ride.

and one of the most anticipated parts of the whole trip......milking the cow.
but huntley had no part of the milking.

shelby decided to give it a go.

august didn't want any part of it either.

and ella dove right in there.

feeding hay to the mama cow and her brand new calf.

tatum sat back and took it all in as usual.

making a tent to hold the baby chick.

the life!

the chicken is passed.

nearly strangled.

and then held properly.
(thanks to a helpful mama, i didn't have to drop the camera to save the chicken!)

i want one of these pretty guys.

the whole crew on the fire truck and the paparazzi taking their picture.

one great field trip!

tatum's blanket

i had my eye on this anna maria horner fabric before i even knew tatum was a girl.
something inside me just knew i needed it.
but, i waited until i knew she was a she.
then procrastinated on ordering it.
had to wait for it to restock.
finally ordered it.
and procrastinated getting the coordinating solids and binding.
realized i didn't have enough binding fabric.
ordered some more.
finished sewing other projects.
and finally got around to completing my girl's blanket.

some of the lines are wonky,
but it's perfect in my eyes,
and hopefully her's too.

baby quilts

i've been sewing up some fun quilts lately.
two solids, different colored threads, and a coordinating binding.

i've loved them all.
and have enjoyed getting to snuggle with them a bit during binding.
one of the many perks of the job!

fire safety

last month was fire safety month.
august enjoyed learning all about it.
both his phone number and street address have been memorized.
he can do a great stop, drop (cover your face), and roll.
he knows what to do if there is a fire.
and loves playing firefighter!

i missed the fire departments visit,
but margaret hooked me up with these pictures. thanks!

he got to work the hose.
i dare say every little boy's dream at some  point.

working hard to turn it off.

thanks for providing such a fun learning experience for our kids!

lessons that we hope to never use,
but are prepared for none the less.
