celebrating 82

saturday afternoon we celebrated grandma re turning 82.

august now has a new friend.
meet lily.

she is a really funny girl.
who thinks it is really funny to throw kortney in the pool.
just look at that face.

august enjoyed the pool too.

but he didn't do this.

observing all the action at a safe distance.

of course happy birthday had to be sung.
and the candles had to be blown out.
grandma re needed help.

lily says, "yummy."
she is right.
licking the candles is the best part.

funny conversation while eating grilled steak;
lily: "i think my belly's gonna, gonna . . ."
kortney: "your belly's gonna explode?"
lily: "no, my belly's gonna crack up."

to quote an american classic

"life is like a box of chocolates. you never know what your gonna get."
its kinda like that around here when you open things.

you may find a baby gap gift card that was slid under the shower door.

or directions to a game stuffed in with the pots and pans.

i love finding these treasures around the house.
what treasures have you found in odd places?

august enjoys coloring.
it is an activity in which blaze stays on the porch for.
she likes to eat the crayons.
apparently they are tasty.

august thinks they are pretty tasty too.
it is kinda hard to tell, but the red around his mouth gave him away.

almost a swimmer

last thursday august finished his swim lessons.
he must have thought he needed to pass a test to get this:

because a new kid showed up at the pool.
he was more than willing to get in.
jumped off the side without trying to escape.
pulled himself out of water with little help from me.
and kicked like it was no body's business.

still showing off this week at our visits to the lake and the pool.

really long post

technical difficulties have been remedied.
so here is a catch up on last week.
it was a busy, but really fun one!

last sunday ashton came to swim with august.
they had a great time.

we hope ashton and his mommy and daddy come to play again soon.

on tuesday we celebrated trav's birthday with family.
we had mexican with brownies and ice cream for dessert.
grandma re ate her first ever burrito at age 82. (she doesn't read this so she can't hurt me for that!)
she really liked it.

on wednesday we got to visit with ashliegh and riley.
she is growing so fast.

mama made her first boy shirt for en.
yes, it is the same size shirt that august wears.
he is only one year younger.

friday we celebrated father's day with the smith family.
the great grandbabies got golf lessons from grandmama.
played ball with granddaddy.
bowled together.
and showed each other how to eat ice cream and cookies.

on saturday we visited baboo, diane, and kyle in tampa.
august enjoyed baboo's big toys.
he even raced her.
you have to love the look of love in a grandmother's eyes.

coming soon . . .

posts from this past week.
experiencing technical difficulties and internet withdrawal.
please pray for a speedy recovery!!

happy birthday, handsome!

we love you!! love, erin & august

not that into it

august is not that into swim lessons.
day 1 - lots of crying
day 2 - lots more crying
as you can see here.

day 3 - hardly any crying at all

i thought we may have finally gotten over our fears.
and the urge to play with the bigger kids on the steps.

but then came day 4.
back to crying again.
maybe next week will be better.

things that come in multiples

and the little guy that loves to play with them.
