unwelcome guest

after walking around the car in the garage to open the door,
august says, "mama, did you just see that snake you walked by?"
me, "yum, no."
august (safely in the car), "it's over there."
me, "really?"

sure enough.
there it was.
all skinny and snakey!!
but quickly making it's way into a box of caladiums.

where he was kind enough to stay while i unloaded my groceries (and the kids).
had there not been ice cream, i may have reconsidered (the food, not the children).

after he kept himself in the box with my multiple trips,
i braved taking a picture with my long lens.

conversing with travis a plan is hatched (by travis).
he says, "just use the big broom, push the box out, and close garage door behind it."
so i put on my brave girl face, and did just that.

now i am bracing myself for the snake dreams....
where i am sure i won't be so brave!

annie the bear

this past weekend annie the bear was our guest.
she is the classroom bear that gets to spend a weekend with each child.
we were so lucky to have her for this fun weekend!

each student documents their time with annie through pictures and a journal.
we started out by taking her to mcdonald's for a strawberry banana smoothie.
then august gave her a tour of the house as soon as we got home.
they got busy playing, and annie got to be a pirate.
later on we made her some pom poms for the big game on saturday.

then off to dinner at schooni's for pizza and august's special garlic knots.

saturday we went to lauren's 7th birthday party.

august made sure to keep her away from the water slide because annie doesn't like to get wet.

but it didn't stop him from trying all kinds of cool slide moves.

brooker held his tongue 'just so' going down the slide!

we made sure to take our picture with the birthday girl.

we came home from the party to rest up for the noles big game.
here the kids are ready to cheer us to victory.

our noles won!

sunday annie, august, and travis helped aunt linda and uncle shawn move cows.
annie stayed clean, but reported that the bull didn't like being moved so much.

early this morning, we put our pictures with annie in her journal.
and told all of our tales from the weekend.
this was such a fun experience with so much learning to go along with it.
we are truly blessed with a wonderful school and loving, caring good teachers!

our week via instagram

taco salad and coke for lunch.
i could eat this everyday!

running + heat + flat tires = no fun!

me and my babies ready for the nole game.

those snuggly moments right when she wakes up.
oh, how i love them!

august reading his first book to the family.
love how he points with his middle finger.
just like my granddaddy did.

raining days call for some soup.
just wishing the temperatures outside reflected soup weather.

new sign for the laundry room.
perfect in this space.
from the blueberry patch.....love shopping local.

pulling up

tatum has been pulling up in her crib for awhile now.
but yesterday, she practiced her skills like never before.
the couch is no longer a safe place for some of brother's toys!

she was trying to get her little hands all over them.

my babies

i love how proud he looks in this picture.

and he was truly proud of his little sister.

photographer august

last week august was wanted to take some pictures.
so i turned my camera on automatic and strapped it around his neck.
he has a more is better policy,
but did a pretty good job.
mama just did a touch of editing.

i love that he captured her dimple.

and a heck of a self portrait!

and we call her goat girl

she likes the cabela's catalog like her daddy and brother.
though for different reasons.

i know these were blurry,
but i just love her methods.

puff eating

some serious cross-eyed focus

"i love these things, mama"

oh yeah, getting my hand eye coordination down.

eat a little, wear a little

"i've got some mad skillz!"

siesta key family pics

our last night at the beach,
we got in some family shots.

then headed out to dinner at philipee creek.
after dinner, we had our usual photo op.

stomp that gator, son!

our happy clam.

hmm, i wonder if they'd consider cutting our another hole for next year?
