outside happenings

we have all kinds of birds around here:
owls, dove, quail, red birds,
woodpeckers, blue birds,
and so many more.
i need to check out a book, so august and i can learn to identify them better.

after seeing our blue birds one day, mom put in an order for a bird house.
we got it in the ground, and the birds started doing their thing right away:
nest building, egg laying, and baby bird tending.

i am so disappointed that i didn't get to capture those eggs,
only god (via his birds) could create such a beautiful shade of blue.

every time they heard my camera click, they peeked up with open beaks
thinking their mama had come with food.
there were five in all,
and as far as we can tell they all made it.

another cute little birdie

my tomato plants are the only things that survived the move to the garden.
i may try the herbs again,
but don't hold your breath.
i've got some dogs that like to dig in there!

dad was aerating the yard.
travis was spreading seed,
and august was making plans of his own.

mama bird doing her thing:
flying back and forth all day long.
"pa's coming around again!"

brooker's birthday

it's hard to believe that brooker has turned five.
(i remember showering bonny at java.)
a pool party was the perfect way to celebrate.

the little sister, mary kate.

another little sister, tatum.

the whole gang.

august and the other boys clowning around!

once again, mandy does a great job on the cake.

the revell family.

august helped wrap and decorate brooker's package.
a good hour of thought and work went into it.

best buds eating their blue bell!

a great party,
and happy birthday bubba!!!

august's class had a party and egg hunt on thursday.
it was wet outside, so they hunted eggs inside.
during the party, august looks over at me and says,
"mama, i love you!"
i know my days of proclaimed love in front of his friends are numbered.

saturday travis built my raised garden bed.

and we dyed easter eggs....in our christmas pajamas!

the easter bunny delivered his goodies.

much to the delight of one boy.

the bunny even enjoyed his carrot!

easter service was excellent,
and the children were well behaved.
batman even minded his manners.

we had lunch with trav's family.
and then headed to mom and dad's to celebrate easter and grandmama jo's birthday.

the boys helped put the candles on the cake and loved blowing them out.
another wonderful family filled weekend!

conversation with my grandmama:
me: "i can't have it. i gave up coke for lent."
grandmama: "you gave up coke, not cheerwine."
it's oh so good.....i may even have a new addiction!

when erica and the kids were here visiting, we took the kids bowling.
they had a great time.
tatum is not in pain, just getting hungry and letting mama know about it.

batman and robin loved their time together and did a great job bowling.
e.n., i mean robin, even got a strike!

we also went jeep riding at the hunting lease.
and soaked in a gorgeous sunset.

so blurry, but a night out with friends and kids in a bar with karaoke was one to remember.
august was playing his air guitar.
samantha, wanna sing some acdc?!?!?

rockin' the old man hair!

last saturday a little girl called to tell me that she was going to prom.

for the life of me, i can't figure out how she has grown up so quickly.
because clearly she's not a little girl, but a beautiful young lady.

praying for you guys everyday!

march recap

spring break week, mama passed her stomach bug onto the boys of the household.
so the week was spent playing nurse and maid.
"the bug" took forever to leave our house.
but my garden did its thing and started sprouting like crazy.
here are pictures at the end of week one.

i need to get our there and take some more pictures.
the brown on my thumb is fading away.
we even have our first tomato growing.

on saturday afternoon, we managed to make it out to the races.
the fresh air was so nice after a week of being cooped up.
tatum and avery enjoying some time away from the noise.

but i guess the noise didn't really bother tatum all that much!

getting some lovin' from aunt candis.

these two are something else.

mary kate in her st. patty's day dress made her talented mama.

tatum chillin' with her big girl cousins.

cline taking a break...the stomach bug took hold at their house too!
getting back out there and playing is hard work.

august and e.n. had a blast....they'd been looking forward to this for quite some time.

kinleigh loves her tatum and is a great babysitter!

marlee is digging in the cooler to keep cool.

we also celebrated granddaddy's birthday in march.
tatum is enjoying time with aunt cookie and grandmama jo.

gnawing on her pacifier.

got these two to stop running for one quick picture, and then they were off again.

august and the birthday boy.

singing happy birthday and blowing out the candles,
or as someone said letting the kids spit all over the cake!

i'm sure there are some instagram pics that will round out our march.
but those will have to come later!
