fourth of july

our fourth was full of all the important stuff:
food,
family,
fireworks,
just a little firework fear,
and lots of fun!

this boy was ready for his kindergarten splash day.

insert straw and keep on sewing.

my main squeeze and best friend turned 39 on the 16th!

last week the tallahassee cousins were here,
and we soaked up our time with them.
we pool hopped, lake hopped,
celebrated grandma re's birthday,
hit the children's museum,
squeezed in some VBS,
and loved every minute of it!

 

not that bad after all

tatum loves swimming in the pool with mrs. pat now.
and she's turning into a little fish just like her big brother,
who decided he wouldn't show off his diving skills after all.

rain is a good thing

as i sit here today,
there are pieces of juliann and clint's wedding throughout the house.
from flower girl gifts, dress, and shoes,
to lovely flowers that adorned the tables.

i keep thinking back to so much of saturday night,
from the ceremony that made them official,
to the rain that poured down on us all as we danced the night away.
a testament to their true love,
and the love so many others have for them.

it was an evening that won't soon be forgotten,
and we are so very blessed to have had a part in the celebration.

and now these three remain:  faith, hope, and love.
but the greatest of these is love.  I Corinthians 13:13

and pirate day finally arrived....argh!

harlan's quilt

the most in depth quilt to date.
i loved every minute of it.
(except for that one star, whose points got sewn on the wrong way, and later fixed.)
i swore i was going to try and machine quilt this one,
but got scared of messing it up and hand quilted it instead.
and what a great thing that was because it so soft and cuddly this way.
truth be told hand quilting is my favorite.
it's relaxing, slow, and simple....just the way i like things.

pirate day

this was a use what you have costume.
sew up a quick sash,
and make a treasure map with a little sewing,
burning edges,
and of course plotting out where the treasure is!
